The Core Skills Practical Session is a 2-hour workshop at L&D East Victoria Park and encompasses the practical components of  Manual Tasks, Mealtime Management and Personal Safety Situational Awareness (PSSA).

This online training has been designed to help find answers to important accountability questions that may arise in your daily work and explain the standards of behaviour expected of you.

This is a mandatory course for all Disability Services direct care staff which provides information to comply fully with all aspects of the Medication Policy and the Medication Management System Manual. This course must be completed every 2 years.

Mealtime Management training is designed to identify and eliminate the risk associated with swallowing problems.  The focus is on identifying swallowing issues, strategies to reduce the risks such as dietary modifications and how or when to refer.

The Core Skills Training (CST) Block is for Disability Services - Social Trainer staff only 

It is composed of 6 training courses. A practical session for Social Trainer staff must be undertaken to remain compliant. 

This programme module covers:

  • Recognise and reduce risk
  • Understand human behaviour
  • Positive interactions and choices
  • Defuse, calm and resolve
  • Personal safety awareness
  • Lone Working
